Koli Tourist Area
We recommend that you take a day trip to the tourist area of Koli, 50 km away, during your vacation. Koli is one of Finland's national landscapes.
The Koli tourist area has received the award for the best outdoor destination in the Nordic countries. Among others, the Danish region of Sønderjylland and the domestic GoSaimaa competed for the award.
The award was announced at the international travel fair, ITB in Berlin, 7 March 2023.

Ruunaa Rapids
Experience the excitement of whitewater rafting at the famous Ruunaa Rapids, where the rushing waters flow toward Lake Pielinen through beautiful wilderness scenery. This unforgettable adventure combines thrilling rapids with the peaceful beauty of North Karelia’s untouched nature.
You can choose between two different rafting experiences: descend all six rapids in a traditional wooden boat (31 km route) or enjoy four rapids by inflatable raft (8 km route). Along the way, you’ll have the chance to admire the diverse wilderness landscapes, forests and river scenery that make the Ruunaa area so unique.
Including a wilderness-style lunch, the rafting excursion lasts approximately three hours.
Guided Bear Safari
From May to August, you have the unique opportunity to observe and photograph bears and other wild animals in their natural habitat on a guided bear safari in Kuhmo, located approximately 300 km from the cabin.
The experience takes place from a traditional log-built wildlife hide, offering a safe and unforgettable way to witness Finland’s wilderness up close. In addition to bears, you may also spot wolverines, foxes, birds and other northern wildlife in the surrounding forests.
This adventure is ideal for nature lovers and photographers alike. The excursion typically requires a full-day trip or an overnight stay.
Golf at the Shores of Lake Pielinen
About an hour’s drive from the cabin, Pielis Golf offers a scenic golfing experience on the shores of Lake Pielinen in Nurmes. This award-winning 9-hole course is known for its beautiful lake views, peaceful surroundings and relaxed atmosphere.
Suitable for both experienced golfers and holiday players, the course combines well-maintained fairways with the natural beauty of North Karelia, making it a perfect day trip during your stay.
